A person from a member institution must have been a collaborating member for at least one year. Every other person must, to become a regular member, have been a collaborating member for at least 3 years. See the statutes to know how to apply.

COLLABORATING MEMBERS

A collaborating member is a researcher contributing on an ad hoc or occasional basis to the realization of the scientific programming or material infrastructure of the strategic cluster. See the statutes to know how to apply.

Why be a member of CentrEau?

Seed Money for Projects

Call underway | Deadline: midnight, September 2, 2024

The CentrEau project seed money program is designed to encourage the emergence of collaborative, cross-sectoral research projects in the water sector by providing seed funding for researchers (financial leverage).

To qualify for funding under CentrEau's project seed funding program, the project must :

  • Be new. That is, it must not yet have started up, or it must have started up no more than six months before the date on which the application is submitted.
  • Promote inter-institutional collaboration by involving at least 2 researchers who are regular CentrEau members from 2 different institutions. During evaluation, particular attention will be paid to the diversity of the institutions involved.
  • Project sponsor. The project must be in line with the group's scientific program and have potential for the future. The following are examples of themes in which the project could fit:
    • human and environmental health
    • sustainable and intelligent agriculture;
    • hydroclimatic issues;
    • green infrastructure;
    • reduction of contaminants and nutrients in watercourses;
    • climate change adaptation in water management;
    • conflicts of use;
    • water resource development.

During evaluation, particular attention will be paid to the diversity of research areas and disciplines involved in the project.

  • The indicators used to assess this criterion are: the number of institutions involved, the number of researchers involved, the number of students involved, and the size of the planned project. During the evaluation, particular attention will be paid to the equity, diversity and inclusion of research team members.
  • Respect the cost-sharing described in the "financial criteria" section.
  • Be part of a larger project for which a funding application to a granting agency is planned (CentrEau's Project Seed Fund program must be used as leverage).
  • The following will be considered as assets
  • The involvement of a Centre collégial de transfert de technologie (CCTT) in the project.
  • A project with an international outlook.
  • A project with links to the UN's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

CentrEau's Infrastructure Program (tools, instruments, and equipment) aims to facilitate the maintenance, improvement, or acquisition of new infrastructure necessary for research, innovation, promotion, and dissemination activities in the water sector.

Two (2) non-renewable envelopes of $20,000 are available each year. These funds are intended to cover research-related expenses.

An additional non-renewable envelope of $10,000 per project is available for projects in which one or both principal investigators are from a Centre collégial de transfert de technologie (CCTT) and involve a college-level student in the project.

  • The infrastructure must align with CentrEau's mission and have a structuring value for CentrEau's scientific programming;

The infrastructure to be funded may be for:

  • - Maintenance of research infrastructure (tools, instruments, and equipment);

OR

  • Improvement of research infrastructure (tools, instruments, and equipment);

OR

  • Serve as a lever for obtaining additional funding for the acquisition, maintenance, and improvement of infrastructure (tools, instruments, and equipment) required for research innovation, promotion, and dissemination activities.

The research project related to the infrastructure must:

  • Not have yet started or have started within a maximum of six months from the date of application;
  • Promote inter-institutional collaboration (involvement of a minimum of two regular members from two different partner institutions);
  • Be promising (must align with the group's scientific program and have potential for the future);
  • Be large-scale (indicators: number of institutions involved, number of researchers and/or students involved).

The Committee will pay particular attention to:

  • Diversity, equity, and inclusion of researchers and HQP;
  • The diversity of research areas, institutions, and disciplines involved.

The following will be considered as assets:
