Speaker: Prof. Viviane Yargeau, McGill University

Language: French, with slides in English

Summary: The epidemiology of wastewater, studied for more than a decade, is a growing scientific discipline which makes it possible to monitor the consumption trends of a population or biomarkers in near real time. The method has proven itself in recent years as a method of monitoring people's consumption of alcohol and illegal drugs through wastewater analysis. In the context of Covid-19, the researchers are now working on adapting the approach to follow the SARS-CoV-2 virus on a population scale. Wastewater could therefore become an important source of information to support public health decision-making.

New series of weekly CentrEau webinars "all about water management". These short 20-minute presentations will be offered live every Thursday at 1 p.m. followed by a short discussion period. CentrEau professors and researchers, as well as guest speakers, will present their research work and its importance in a semi-popularized manner.
