RIISQ : 'Flooding hazard in urban areas' and 'Flooding risk linked to frazil: the City of Terrebonne's response to this risk'

On March 17, 2023, the RIISQ invites you to a webinar entitled 'Flooding hazard in urban areas' and 'Flooding risk related to frazil: the City of Terrebonne's response to this risk' [In French].

Speakers:

  • Donald Fortin, Head of the Civil Security Division, Scheme and Analysis of the Service de sécurité incendie de l'agglomération de Longueuil (SSIAL).
  • Sylvain Dufresne, Fire Director and Municipal Coordinator of Civil Security for the City of Terrebonne

Summary: Donald Fortin will discuss how municipal authorities respond to heavy rainfall events that cause damage to municipal infrastructure and affect more and more citizens. Mr. Fortin will also present the perspectives where the probability of occurrence and the consequences of the effects of climate change pose many challenges.  

Sylvain Dufresne will talk about his experience in coordinating several disaster management interventions in Quebec over the past 15 years, and the actions he has implemented in terms of prevention, preparation and intervention during periods of spring flooding and blockages due to frazil.
