CentrEau
This privacy policy explains what personal information we collect and how we use it when you visit the CentrEau website.
CentrEau is a Quebec-based multi-sectoral group of water management researchers and students from 12 educational institutions.
The CentrEau website was developed by Université Laval within the framework of this group.
When and why we collect your personal information
We collect your personal information in a variety of situations.
You subscribe to one of our newsletters
When you subscribe to one of our newsletters, we may collect, for example :

This information is shared with our service provider INTUIT mailchimp to manage the newsletter. In some cases, your information may be shared with companies outside Quebec.
You may unsubscribe from a newsletter at any time.
Register for an event or training activity
When you register for an event or training activity, we use the information you provide to manage your registration and to deliver the activity.
This may include, for example:

In some cases, we may also use your information to invite you to participate in another activity or event that may be of interest to you.

We use cookies to collect data. This allows us to better understand the path taken by visitors to our sites and to improve their experience. It is also used for analysis purposes, to optimize our Web platforms and for retargeting purposes, where applicable.
Some cookies are essential to the security and operation of our sites, and cannot be disabled.

CentrEau staff, if necessary
Only authorized staff members have access to your personal information. They have access only to information that is strictly necessary to perform their duties.
Certain service providers, if necessary
Certain service providers may have access to your personal information when necessary. For example, when data from a software program we use is hosted on the supplier's server.
Our suppliers must limit their access to what is necessary to provide the service. They may not use the information for any other purpose or disclose it to third parties without our authorization.
Protection of your personal information
To ensure the confidentiality of your personal information, we have implemented certain measures.

We have established the roles and responsibilities of staff members throughout the processing cycle of your personal information.

Usage, retention and destruction rules
We use your personal information only for the purposes described in this policy.
We retain your personal information only as long as necessary for the fulfillment of those purposes, subject to the retention periods set out in the University's retention schedule (PDF).
Once these retention periods have been reached, your personal information is destroyed or anonymized, as appropriate.
Your rights
The law grants you several rights with respect to the personal information Université Laval holds about you.
Refuse or withdraw consent
You may refuse to consent to any optional use or disclosure of your personal information.
You may also withdraw your consent at any time.
Access or rectify your personal information
You may consult the personal information we hold about you and obtain a copy.
If you notice any errors or if you feel that your information is not being retained in an authorized manner, you may request that it be corrected or destroyed, as the case may be.
To exercise these rights, submit a request to the person responsible for access to personal information (french).
File a complaint
You may lodge a complaint if you believe that the University is not respecting this policy or if you are otherwise concerned about the management of personal information we hold.
The procedure for handling complaints relating to the protection of personal information stipulates that such a complaint must be addressed to the Bureau du respect de la personne.

Effective date and policy review
This policy has been in effect since October 2, 2024.
This policy may be modified by the University after publication of a notice of modification.
