Member recognition program for researchers

1. Program Objective

CentrEau is launching a recognition program to honor members who stand out for their contributions to the group's mission and the improvement of continental water management and governance for a sustainable future. Every two years, these members will be celebrated at the CentrEau Annual Meeting.

The program covers activities carried out between April 1, 2023, and March 31, 2025.

2. Recognition Categories

One member will be recognized in each of the following categories:

A. Structuring Research Project for the Group
B. Structuring Scientific Achievement for the Group (e.g., research infrastructure or equipment, publication, patent)
C. Scientific Activity Contributing to CentrEau’s Outreach (e.g., symposium, workshop, conference, webinar, etc.)
D. Significant Involvement within the Group

3. Evaluation Criteria

FOR CATEGORIES A, B and C : 

1. Structuring Contribution to CentrEau

  • Contribution to advancing knowledge related to CentrEau’s scientific program

  • Alignment with CentrEau’s mission and values

  • Benefits for the CentrEau community

  • Strengthening of collaborations within the group (priority given to projects involving at least two regular researchers)

  • Contribution to CentrEau’s visibility

2. Impact and Outcomes

  • Scientific and societal impact

  • Sustainability of the outcomes

  • Multiplier effect or leverage effect

  • Resource sharing

  • Development or strengthening of partnerships

3. Innovative Aspect

  • Innovation in approach

  • Solutions to existing challenges

FOR CATEGORY D: 

  • Engagement in Committees and Working Groups

  • Participation in CentrEau’s Activities

    • Actively contributed to group activities (e.g., speaker, moderator, jury member)

    • Attended CentrEau-organized events (e.g., webinars, conferences, Apér’Eau, Annual Member Assembly)

  • CentrEau’s Outreach

    • Organized activities benefiting CentrEau members and increasing the group’s visibility

    • Represented CentrEau at external events (e.g., CentrEau conference session, participation in a panel, etc.)

    • Responded to research user requests received by CentrEau (e.g., media interviews, advising a municipality, sharing infrastructure)

  • Any other relevant form of involvement as determined by the member

4. Evaluation Process

Applications will be assessed based on the eligibility and evaluation criteria outlined above, as well as the completeness of the application (all elements requested in section 6 must be provided). The selection committee will determine the member who stands out in each category.

The evaluation committee may be composed of:

FOR CATEGORIES A, B, and C:

  • Members of the Scientific Committee

  • Regular members of CentrEau

  • External experts

FOR CATEGORIE D: 

  • Management Committee

5. Application Guidelines

  • One application per category per member.

  • A member can apply in multiple categories.

  • Separate applications must be submitted for each category.

  • Applications may be submitted on behalf of oneself or to nominate a peer.

6. Application Content

Each application must include:

  • Title and detailed description of the project, achievement, or involvement, based on the evaluation criteria outlined in section 3 (max. 1 page)

  • Specify:

    • Period of achievement or involvement (must be between April 1, 2023, and March 31, 2025)

    • If applicable:

      • Team involved

      • Funding obtained

      • Publications/communications resulting from the project, achievement, or involvement

      • Scope (local/national/international)

    • Supporting documents (e.g., photos, statistics) if available

7. Modification or Withdrawal of Application

Applicants must inform the CentrEau Scientific Directorate in writing at direction@centreau.org of any withdrawal, cancellation, or modification of their original application as soon as possible.

8. Modification or Cancellation of the Application

Anyone who has submitted an application must inform the scientific management of the organization in writing at direction@centreau.org of the abandonment, cancellation, or modification of their original application as soon as possible
